Graham Statement on Senate Passage of Comprehensive Housing Legislation

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement after voting for the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. The Senate approved this legislation by a vote of 89 to 10.

"I am pleased that the Senate has passed this landmark housing legislation. By removing burdensome regulations and cutting red tape, American families can look forward to lower housing costs on the horizon.

"I appreciate Senator Tim Scott and President Trump's leadership on this legislation and am proud to stand with them in addressing one of the most important economic issues of our time.

"When people think about the concept of the American Dream, one of the key components of that idea is home ownership. The cost of buying a house has skyrocketed across the nation, putting that dream out of reach for many hardworking families.

"South Carolina has not been immune to this trend. As one of the fastest growing states in the nation, it is critical that the supply of housing is vastly expanded across South Carolina to meet our state's growing needs. This legislation helps meet that need, and I'm glad it passed overwhelmingly."
