Man Arrested for August 2024 Fatal Shooting of Christopher Walter

Investigation following a shoplifting report at Target, 3171 Lebanon Pike, resulted in Friday's arrest of Jerry Wayne Rippy, 36, who was wanted on a Grand Jury indictment for 1st degree murder in the August 2024 fatal shooting of Christopher Walter, 41, in an alley off Hart and Creek Streets.

After the shooting, a man was seen fleeing the area on a moped. Walter, who stayed in an encampment on Creek Street, had reportedly been accused of taking another man's moped.

In addition to 1st degree murder, Rippy is charged with theft of merchandise and criminal impersonation (gave officers a false name) for Friday's incident. He is being held in lieu of $252,000 bond.
