Josephine County Commissioners Approve Lease with the Community Library

GRANTS PASS, Ore. - After months of negotiations, the Josephine County Commissioners have approved a negotiated lease with the community library.

Today, in their Administration Workshop, the board discussed draft lease options, before ultimately agreeing on a lease that was beneficial for both the county and the community library.

The agreed upon library lease terms out on December 31, 3030. New to the lease is a stipulated rent amount of $27,687.00. The payment terms are one lump sum payment to the county of $20,424.00 due to the county by January 2, 2026, with additional annual payments of $1,453.00 there after due on January 1st of each subsequent year during the lease.

Commissioner Barnett was appointed by the board to work with County Legal Counsel, and the Josephine County Community Library, to work together on a lease. Commissioner Barnett stated, "I want to thank everyone for their patience in negotiations with the library lease. I am happy to move forward with a great relationship with our community library. The library director, Kate Laskey and I have built a great working relationship in showing unity in our community. We hope this can bring more people together when working on resolutions for the common good."
