Sep 17, 2025 CSUCI Invites Community College Students to Explore STEM Pathways at Free Fall Events

Sept. 17, 2025 - What does your future in science, technology, engineering, or math look like? This October, Cal State Channel Islands (CSUCI) is opening its doors-and even an island-to help community college students find out.

CSUCI will host two free STEM Transfer Day events designed to give students a closer look at academic majors, hands-on labs, and career pathways available in the sciences. Both days include opportunities to connect directly with faculty, advisors, and current students, as well as enjoying some CSUCI campus life.

"These days are about opening doors for future scientists, engineers, and health leaders," said Interim Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences Phil Hampton. "Students not only learn about our programs, but they also get to picture themselves here-learning, researching, and thriving."

The first event, STEM Transfer Day (Día de Transferencia STEM), takes place Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the CSUCI campus. Students may choose between two tracks:

  • Track 1: Computer Science, Mathematics, Mechatronics
  • Track 2: Biology, Chemistry, Health Science

Participants will experience lab tours, faculty-led sessions, advising, enrollment workshops, free parking, and a free lunch. Registration is free, but priority closes Sept. 26, 2025.

A week later, on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., CSUCI's Santa Rosa Island Research Station will host a second STEM Transfer Day, focused on Environmental Science & Resource Management (ESRM), Biology, and related majors. This all-day excursion gives students the rare chance to explore undergraduate research opportunities on the Island-a living laboratory just off the California coast. Space is limited for this unique trip.
