Q: Where did you grow up?

A: Morenci, Michigan

Q: Was there an inspiration for you to go into nursing?

A: Short answer, my mother, who has been a registered nurse at Hillsdale Hospital for the past 40 years. Also, my time as an ER technician made me realize the role of nurses in the outpatient setting and the opportunities to care not only for the patients, but for their families as well.

Q: What motivates or energizes you in your work?

A: I enjoy assisting patients and seeing the difference in their health due to interventions and suggestions. Being able to see the results from our work together is especially motivating in primary care.

Q: How would you describe your approach to patient care?

A: I try to make sure that my approach is holistic and patient-centered. This includes doing my best to treat the whole person, and not just the condition that prompts them to come see me.

Q: Do you have any areas of special interest within family medicine?

A: I enjoy caring for people of all ages, but I'm especially drawn to women's health and pediatrics.

Q: What else would you like people to know about you as a healthcare professional?

A: I work to build trust through active listening and clear communication so that my patients feel heard and involved in their care. I want to be an advocate for their health with an emphasis on education about their condition so that they have no question when it comes to their healthcare plan.

Q: What activities do you enjoy when you're away from the office?

A: I enjoy spending time with my family - including my three young children -- attending concerts, camping and baking.
