Amazon announces partnership with a new coalition to develop the workforce for the AI era
Key takeaways
Amazon is partnering with RAISE US to help American workers develop skills for AI-era jobs.
RAISE US brings together companies, policymakers, and educators to address the workforce impacts of AI.
The coalition will further extend Amazon's reach to support communities and workers with the skills they need.
Today Amazon is announcing that we've joinedRAISE USas a founding member to develop the workforce of the future for our employees and communities. RAISE US is a new bipartisan coalition that brings together companies, policymakers, and leaders to accelerate the transition to the jobs of the future.
AI is transforming how we live and workat a pace few of us could have predicted. At Amazon, we see this every day-in the AI-powered tools that help our customers, the systems that optimize our logistics network, and the generative AI services we offer throughAWS.
We believe this commitment to people is one of the most important investments we can make-both right now and for the workforce of the future, and we're optimistic about what this technology can do for people. But we also recognize that optimism without action isn't enough. The transition to an AI-driven economy will create enormous opportunity, but only if we invest now in helping workers develop the skills to seize it.
Preparing workers for the future
At Amazon, workforce development isn't a side project-it's core to how we operate. We've committed $2.5 billion through ourFuture Ready 2030initiative to expand access to education and skills training for at least 50 million people across every stage of the career journey.
This includes programs for our employees likeCareer Choice, where we prepay college tuition and career certificates for eligible employees. Over the past 14 years, the program has helped over 300,000 employees worldwide-including 100,000 in 2025-earn degrees and certificates in high-demand fields and move into new careers. And we're just getting started-we recently announced that we've allocated an additional$1 billion to the program. We also support people outside our walls in communities around the world through programs that providefree AI and cloud skills trainingto millions of learners. These programs reflect our belief that people deserve tools to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing economy.
Amazon is committed to preparing people for the future of work through comprehensive education and training programs.
But no single company can solve this alone. The AI transition requires the kind of coordinated public-private action that RAISE US is built to deliver. By working directly with state governments to pilot and scale new workforce models, we can move faster and reach more people than any of us could independently. The companies and communities that invest in developing these capabilities now know that this isn't just about technical skills-it's about creating a workforce that understands how to apply AI to solve real-world problems.
For Amazon, joining RAISE US is a natural extension of what we have been doing for years: investing in people, partnering with governments, and building programs that help workers and communities succeed. We look forward to working alongside our fellow coalition members, state leaders, and educators to make the AI transition one that lifts everyone up.
The future of work is being written right now. We intend to make sure it works for everyone. Learn more aboutRAISE US and the coalition.
