My Journey from Intern to AI Leader

In 2019, fresh out of my master's program, I joined Schneider Electric as an intern in Global Supply Chain in China. What started as a temporary role soon evolved into a full-time position - a journey that has since taken me from the supply chain floor to leading-edge AI innovation.

My Early Days in Supply Chain

My first role was as a Supply Chain Planner at the GSC China SSIC factory. During this time, I found myself immersed in the company's early digital transformation initiatives. We began integrating technologies like RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and BI (Business Intelligence) tools into our operations.

As a logistics engineer, I completed over 100 RPA and BI projects - each one contributing to greater efficiency across our processes. These experiences not only deepened my technical skills but also laid the groundwork for my transition into digital solutions later on.

Stepping Into the World of AI

After gaining hands-on experience in automation, I joined the China Digital Solutions team, where I now lead AI-driven innovations within GSC China. My responsibilities include developing and managing AI models aimed at optimizing supply chain performance, leveraging techniques ranging from machine learning and deep learning to optimization algorithms and generative AI.

One of the most rewarding chapters of my career was building the AI Engine from 0 to 1 - a platform designed to make AI accessible to non-technical users through low-code and no-code interfaces. This project earned us the Super AI Leader award at the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, a moment I'm incredibly proud of.

This role has opened doors to global collaboration, allowing me to work with diverse teams across cultures. It's taught me the value of inclusivity and how embracing different perspectives can drive innovation.

Bridging Technology and Business

A big part of my job is acting as a bridge between technology and business teams. I ensure that our digital solutions are not only technically sound but also aligned with real-world business needs.

Beyond development, I'm passionate about democratizing AI knowledge. Through internal training sessions and workshops, I aim to make AI approachable and practical for everyone, empowering both office staff and frontline workers to integrate technology in their daily tasks.

My efforts have also had a positive impact on client interactions, expanding our professional network, and uncovering new customer opportunities. In an industry that moves fast, I believe in staying curious and continuously adapting, especially when it comes to emerging technologies like agentic AI and AI agents.

Sharing Expertise Beyond Schneider

Being recognized as a Senior Electrifier in AI has been a major milestone in my career. It has enhanced my influence in client conversations and allowed me to showcase our platforms and success stories externally.

For example, we've collaborated with consulting teams to empower external clients using our AI Engine. This recognition also led to invitations to speak at industry forums and universities, helping to expand our reach and unlock new business opportunities.

These engagements have strengthened our partnerships and enabled the co-creation of AI algorithms that enrich both our internal workflows and external collaborations.

Driving Internal Transformation

My vision? To make "AI for All" a reality at Schneider Electric. We've rolled out AI models across every corner of our operations - from manufacturing lines to everyday office tasks. This initiative has accelerated our digital transformation, enabling more employees to use AI without needing deep technical backgrounds.

As part of this mission, I regularly conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for colleagues across offices and workshops in China. As a Senior Electrifier, I played a key role in supporting AI applications for the SSIC Lighthouse project, which earned Schneider Electric the prestigious End-to-End Lighthouse recognition by the World Economic Forum in 2024.

Looking Ahead

Looking forward, I remain committed to lifelong learning and sharing what I know. Whether through internal workshops or external courses, there's always something new to learn and someone who can teach you.

Schneider Electric's focus on innovation and sustainability makes it an exciting place to grow - professionally and personally. It constantly challenges me to step outside my comfort zone and explore new horizons.

This journey has been deeply fulfilling, and I'm excited for what lies ahead.

Lessons Along the Way

Throughout my journey, I've picked up some invaluable lessons for my career development:

  • Communication is key. As technical experts, we must be able to explain complex concepts in simple terms to gain buy-in and support.
  • Understand the business side. Knowing how the business works helps turn vague ideas into actionable plans.
  • Stay adaptable. Technology evolves rapidly, and being open to change is essential for long-term success.
