OG Anunoby is helping write a new chapter in New York Knicks history as the franchise closes in on its first NBA championship in more than five decades.

While the basketball world knows Anunoby as one of the NBA's premier two-way players, the Anunoby family's connection to Lincoln University gives his success special meaning for the Blue Tiger community. His father, Ogbenlo Anunoby, was a faculty member in the School of Business from 2001 to 2018, and his older brother, Chigbo, attended Lincoln before transferring to Morehouse College, where he played football and later pursued a professional career.

As Anunoby helps lead the Knicks toward a championship, his family's ties to Lincoln University continue to connect the national spotlight to Jefferson City.

Anunoby also has maintained a connection to the local community throughout his NBA career. Each June, he returns to Jefferson City to host a youth basketball camp at Jefferson City High School, giving young athletes an opportunity to learn from one of the league's top defenders and most respected veterans.

Athletics are woven throughout the Anunoby family's story. OG Anunoby followed a path to the NBA, while his older brother, Chigbo, pursued a career in the NFL, signing with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2012. Chigbo also spent time with several NFL organizations during his professional career. Their mother, Grace Anunoby, was a standout athlete as well, competing in track and field at the national level in Nigeria.

Today, Anunoby has established himself as one of the NBA's elite defensive players. Since entering the league in 2017, he has built a reputation for guarding the game's top scorers while contributing on both ends of the floor. His performance during the Knicks' playoff run has helped position New York within reach of its first NBA title in more than 50 years.

For members of the Lincoln University community, Anunoby's success represents more than a championship pursuit. It serves as a reminder of the connections between the university and individuals making an impact on the national stage - connections rooted in the classroom, athletics and the Jefferson City community.

Lincoln University wishes Anunoby the best of luck as he continues his pursuit of an NBA championship with the New York Knicks!
