NORTH DAKOTA - Corey Mock, Chief Information Officer for the State of North Dakota, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). Mock will serve as an Executive Committee Director, completing the unexpired term of Laura Clark, former CIO for the State of Michigan. The term runs through 2026, after which Mock will be eligible to seek a full two-year term later this fall.
NASCIO is the premier professional association representing state chief information officers and senior public-sector IT leaders nationwide. The organization is widely recognized for its leadership, research, policy guidance, and collaborative support of state IT organizations as they navigate modernization, cybersecurity, workforce, and digital service delivery challenges.
I'm honored to join the NASCIO Executive Committee and grateful for the trust of my peers, Mock said. Having spent much of my career on the legislative side of the table before stepping into the CIO role, I bring a perspective shaped by both policymaking and implementation. I've seen firsthand the importance of clear governance, sustainable funding, and strong partnerships between legislators, executive leaders, and technology teams. NASCIO plays a critical role in advancing that shared understanding across states.
Mock previously served 16 years in the North Dakota House of Representatives, including leadership roles and service on technology-focused legislative committees, before being appointed CIO in 2024. In his current role, he leads North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT), which provides enterprise IT services-including cybersecurity, networks, applications, data, and end-user support-to North Dakota's executive branch agencies. His work emphasizes cross-agency collaboration, public trust, and "humans helping humans" through effective and secure technology.
NASCIO has a long-standing and well-earned reputation for supporting public-sector IT leaders with practical research, peer connection, and principled advocacy, Mock added. I'm excited to contribute to that work and to learn from colleagues across the country who are tackling many of the same challenges-often under very different conditions.
