GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments Branch
at Headquarters, Marine Corps will host the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026
Career Counselor Retention Planning and Training Symposium from
17 August 2026 to 21 August 2026.
1.a. The symposium will be structured across five days. Day one will
focus exclusively on enlisted retention operations, including a
after-action review of the FY26 retention campaign, a progress
update on FY27 execution, and deliberate planning for the FY28
retention campaign. Day two will focus on the Career Counselor
occupational field, including a review of structure, roles and
responsibilities, force alignment, and the way ahead for the
military occupational specialty. Days three through five will
consist of a formal course of instruction designed for Marines
recently promoted and assigned to Major Subordinate Command (MSC)
level billets.
1.b. The symposium is intended for Career Counselors serving in
billets at the Major Subordinate Element (MSE) and
MSC levels. Reserve Component Career Counselors serving in
MSE or MSC billets are also eligible to attend. Commands with
assigned MSE or MSC-level Career Counselor billets are responsible
for identifying and nominating appropriate attendees. Participation
is capped at 40 Marines. The symposium will be held at Liversedge
Hall, large conference room,15 Liversedge Drive, Quantico, VA 22134.
2. Marines traveling are responsible for ensuring their arrival date
is 16 August 2026. The return date is 22 August 2026 for all
attendees. Funding for symposium participation is the responsibility
of the attendees' parent command.
2.a. Government messing is not available.
2.b. All attendees will stay at Liversedge Hall,
15 Liversedge Drive, Quantico, VA 22134. Attendees must make
reservations before arriving. All attendees must confirm
reservations by calling Liversedge Hall at (703) 432-1341 before
2 August 2026. Attendees should identify themselves as part of the
FY26 Career Counselor Symposium.
2.c. It is recommended that Career Counselors traveling from the
same geographic locations share rental car expenses whenever
feasible. Attendees should make all efforts to reduce costs
associated with the symposium.
2.d. Uniform for the symposium is woodland MARPAT. All attendees
will notify the POCs listed above via email NLT 2 August 2026
utilizing the following format:

to provide all necessary information by the deadline above will not
be considered for attendance.
