Greensboro Planning Department Warns of Board of Adjustment Scam

The Greensboro Planning Department is warning residents about a phishing scam targeting Board of Adjustment (BOA) applicants.

The scam involves someone falsely identifying themselves as the BOA chairperson and emailing residents or businesses that are currently in the application process. The fraudulent email requests payment to settle an invoice electronically.

All administrative fees are collected when an application is submitted to the City.

Applicants are encouraged to use caution when receiving unsolicited emails. Do not open unexpected attachments, click on links, or reply to suspicious messages. Official email correspondence from the City of Greensboro will always come from an email address using the @greensboro-nc.gov domain.

If you are unsure if an email is legitimate, contact Shayna Thiel at [email protected] or 336-373-2753.
