05/04/2026 - Martin Way Pedestrian Safety Project

Martin Way Pedestrian Safety Project
We are planning a pedestrian safety project on Martin Way between the Chehalis Western Trail and Sleater Kinney Road. These changes will make it easier and safer for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders to use the street. Construction is planned for fall 2026.

Planned changes
These changes will create better conditions for everyone in this area, whether walking, rolling, biking, riding transit, or driving. The planned changes include:
  1. Enhanced crosswalk (west)
  2. New curb ramps
  3. Center median with landscaping
  4. Separated bike lane behind bus platform
  5. In-lane bus stop with platform
  6. Enhanced crosswalk (east)

Project information
During construction, you can expect:
  • Lane closures and flaggers directing traffic.
  • Noise, vibration, dust, and debris.
  • Large machinery and truck activity.
  • Detours for pedestrians and bicyclists due to the closure of sidewalks or bike lanes.
