JEFFERSON CITY, Mo - Bolivar Street in Jefferson City is set to close in early April for rehabilitation work on the overpass bridge over U.S. Route 50. The traveling public will need to use an alternate route during the roughly 4-month closure.
On Monday, April 6, construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to close the Bolivar Street bridge over U.S. Route 50. Rehabilitation work will include deck repairs, overlaying the driving surface, and applying a protective coating on the substructure. The non-continuous sidewalk on the north side of the bridge will be removed, and the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be enhanced.
There will be no signed detour during the closure, which is anticipated to last 113 calendar days, with the bridge reopening to traffic in mid-August.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
This work is part of a multi-bridge project that included deck repairs and overlays for 11 bridges in Jefferson City - most of which was completed in 2025.
