Conferment Ceremony held for Medal of Honor with Dark Blue Ribbon

Ms. KUSUMOTO Kumiko and Mr. TANAHASHI Susumu received Medals of Honor with a Dark Blue Ribbon* from the Japanese government for their generous financial contributions to Osaka University.

The conferment ceremony was held at Osaka University on Thursday, December 12, 2024, with President NISHIO Shojiro, Executive Vice President KANEDA Yasufumi, Dean WADA Shigeo of the Graduate School of Engineering Science, and Dean OMASA Takeshi of the Graduate School of Engineering in attendance. President Nishio conferred the medals to Ms. Kusumoto and Mr. Tanahashi, expressing his gratitude for their contributions.

Their donations were used to improve lecture halls and support students in the School/Graduate School of Engineering Science and School/Graduate School of Engineering, respectively.

At the social gathering following the ceremony, President Nishio once again expressed his gratitude to Ms. Kusumoto and Mr. Tanahashi for their donations, while the donors spoke about their reasons and expectations for their donations.

The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon is awarded to individuals who have made exceptionally generous financial contributions for the good of the public. It is conferred when the occasion arises, after the Decoration Bureau of the Cabinet Office has screened the candidates recommended by relevant ministries.
