The Public Works Department is made up of various sub-departments including Fleet, Line Repair, Streets/Stormwater and Traffic, Wastewater, and Water. Each week, over 140 employees are responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of existing and new infrastructure across League City which includes everything from roadways and traffic lights to storm drains, sewers, and water production.
Below are some tips and projects they are working on:
Dewatering Solids Conveyor System Maintenance
The Wastewater Department recently re-built conveyor system number two, for the dewatering solids process at the Dallas Salmon Wastewater Treatment Plant. Conveyor number two was identified as needing repairs during routine inspection and preventative maintenance.
This equipment was originally installed during the treatment plant expansion in 2010. The successful rebuilding of the conveyor ensures the continued efficient operation of the system, maintaining the movement of solids out of the process and keeping the department's commitment to reliable wastewater treatment.
Robinsons Outfall Ditch Maintenance Underway
League City crews are currently performing maintenance on Robinsons Outfall to help improve drainage in the community. This work includes de-silting the channel, re-establishing the flow line, and grading the ditch to restore its capacity. The project is being completed with the use of our large Link-Belt excavator, ensuring efficient and thorough maintenance.
Bobcat T770 Skid Steer with SWB60 Sweeper Bucke t
Fleet Maintenance conducted routine service on this Bobcat T770 skid steer unit, including inspection of all attachment components. This unit has been equipped with the SWB60 sweeper bucket along with gutter brush attachment that allows the skid steer to have versatility and precision cleaning control. While performing the inspection, the sweeper brushes were found worn and scheduled for replacement, along with the bucket housing requiring some structural repairs to reinforce blade support. After repairs, a final quality inspection will be performed before the unit is released back into regular service.
