City launches safety and mobility transportation projects for Norwood and Howe avenues, seeks public input

The City's Transportation Planning team recently launched two transportation planning projects aimed at enhancing safety and mobility along two of the city's corridors: Norwood Avenue and Howe Avenue.

These efforts, the Norwood Mobility Project and the Connecting Howe Avenue Project, will include multiple opportunities for community members to weigh in, including four upcoming workshops in November and December.

"Safety and access for everyone who travels in Sacramento is a top priority," said Transportation Planning Manager Jennifer Donlon Wyant. "These corridors are part of the City's High Injury Network, where we see some of the highest numbers of severe injuries and fatalities. Through these planning efforts, we're taking critical steps toward making our transportation network safer and more accessible for everyone, whether they walk, bike, drive, or take public transit."

Norwood Mobility Project

The Norwood Avenue corridor, between Main Avenue and Arcade Creek, serves neighborhoods like Robla and Del Paso Heights and is home to schools and businesses. The project team began community engagement in late October at the Robertson Community Center's Harvest Festival, hosted by Mutual Assistance Network, and will continue gathering input through surveys, an interactive web map, and the upcoming workshops.
