The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) joined a broad coalition of innovators, businesses, and trade groups in a letter to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Department of Justice expressing concern about recent positions on patent injunctions. The letter emphasizes that expanding injunctive relief, particularly for non-practicing entities, could disrupt the careful balance established by the Supreme Court's eBay decision, undermining American innovation, competition, and economic growth.

The coalition urges federal agencies to maintain the longstanding framework that has supported U.S.-based research, development, and manufacturing. The letter highlights the importance of fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory licensing practices and the negative consequences of allowing injunctions to serve as leverage for excessive patent demands.
