ODOT seeking public comment on bridge maintenance projects

LIMA, Ohio (Tuesday, April 7, 2026) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects:

U.S. 30 bridge painting, Allen County (PID: 119059)

ODOT is proposing to perform bridge painting on both structures (eastbound and westbound) of U.S. 30 over the Ottawa River in Allen County.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2027.

Work at some of these structures will occur within the boundary of a regulated floodplain. Impacts to these floodplains are anticipated to be minor and result in no rise in localized flood levels. A statement of findings detailing the results of the final floodplain analysis will be made available on the project website: transportation.ohio.gov/projects/projects/119059

Bridge maintenance on various routes (PID: 114994)

ODOT is proposing to perform routine maintenance on various bridges throughout Allen, Hancock, Van Wert and Wyandot counties.

Allen County

  • State Route 696 structure over May Ditch east of the village of Beaverdam.

Hancock County

  • Interstate 75 structure over County Road 33 and the abandoned railroad east of the city of Bluffton.

  • County Road 313 over Interstate 75 south of the city of Findlay.

Van Wert County

  • State Route 49 structure over the St. Mary's River on the north side of the village of Willshire.

Wyandot County

  • U.S. 23 structures over the CSX railroad near the U.S. 23 and U.S. 30 interchange on the northwest side of the city of Upper Sandusky.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2027.

Bridge deck overlay on various routes (PID: 119060)

ODOT is proposing to perform bridge deck overlay treatment on various structures throughout Putnam, Van Wert, and Wyandot counties:

Putnam County

  • State Route 12 structure over Cranberry Creek northeast of the village of Columbus Grove.

Van Wert County

  • U.S. 30 structure over Blue Creek in the northwest corner of Van Wert County.

Wyandot County

  • State Route 67 structure on the northeast side of the village of Marseilles.

  • State Route 103 structure over Tymochtee Creek west of the village of Carey.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures at both Wyandot State Route locations as well as the Putnam State Route location. Vehicular traffic will be detoured temporarily. Full road closures or detours are not expected at the Van Wert County location, though lane closures will occur. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2028.
