On the 22nd, Vice President Seo Jungwook of Samsung Electro-Mechanics received the Presidential Commendation at the "19th Electronics and IT Day" Awards Ceremony in recognition of his efforts to improve the competitiveness of the domestic materials and components industry.

The Electronics and IT Day event was established in 2005 to commemorate the achievement of over $100 billion in electronic exports. It honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the electronics and IT industries and the enhancement of the nation's status with various awards, including the Order of Industrial Service Merit, Industrial Service Medal, Presidential Commendation, Prime Minister's Commendation, and Minister's Commendation.

Since joining Samsung Electro-Mechanics in 1999, Vice President Seo, Head of the Electronic Component Business Team, played a crucial role in developing and manufacturing top-tier electronic components such as inductors and tantalum capacitors, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic passive components industry.

※ Electronic components refer to products including ▲inductors (which prevent changes in current and eliminate noise), ▲tantalum (used to eliminate noise using electrical properties), and ▲chip resistors (which reduce voltage or stabilize current within electronic circuits).

In particular, in 2013, Seo successfully commercialized the world's first low-loss nano-crystalline powder for inductors, notably contributing to the localization of passive component materials that were previously dependent on Japan by discovering domestic material development companies.

Additionally, in 2023, he further developed the world's first thin-film coupled inductor, integrating two coils into a single chip through innovative coil shape design and printing methods, thereby advancing the technology of the domestic passive components industry.

In his remarks, Vice President Seo said, "I am honored that this award proves Samsung Electro-Mechanics' technological prowess in electronic component development," adding, "With our world-class technology, we aim to provide the best solutions to customers in the AI and automotive sectors."

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been developing and producing inductors since 1996, gaining recognition for its industry-leading technology in creating new types of thin-film power inductors with compact designs since 2011.

Currently, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is fostering electronic components as the second MLCC and is expanding its lineup of AI and automotive products based on its expertise in the IT sector.
