WASHINGTON, DC - Following the G20 Trade Ministerial in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Neil Bradley, Chief Policy Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"The business community supports improving trade flows as a force for economic growth, job creation, and resilience. We applaud U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and the G20 trade ministers for their work in Milwaukee toward these shared objectives and their focus on resilient supply chains and promotion of strategic investment opportunities.
"The U.S. Chamber is especially pleased with the G20 consensus reached on commitments denouncing weaponization of trade in food. It is critical to ensure that agriculture products are not used for purposes of economic or political coercion and to improve food security and revenue for farmers around the world. Several ministers also released a joint statement on the importance of eradicating forced labor from global supply chains. We are fully supportive of efforts to end this abhorrent practice and look forward to working with the administration on comprehensive supply chain mapping tools and partnerships with other economies.
"We look forward to continuing these important conversations at the B20 USA Summit, the premier gathering of global business and policy leaders. The B20 will be held from November 9-11 at the Wharf in Washington, DC, and will feature dozens of top business and government leaders in conversations with leading journalists and over 2,000 attendees from around the world."
