Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella and Manchester Police Chief Peter A. Marr announce, on behalf of the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit, a renewed appeal for public assistance in the cold case homicide of Lynne Brennan, ahead of the 15th anniversary of her death.
"Fifteen years is a long time for a family to wait for answers. But for our investigators, the passage of time only strengthens our resolve," said Senior Assistant Attorney General R. Christopher Knowles, Chief of the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit. "We believe there are people who have information that could be the missing piece in this case. We urge them to come forward."
"The Manchester Police Department has not forgotten Lynne Brennan. We are committed to working alongside our partners at the Cold Case Unit to bring justice for Lynne and her family," said Chief Marr. "Any detail, no matter how small it may seem, could be critical."
On October 11, 2010, 53-year-old Lynne Brennan was discovered deceased inside her apartment in Manchester's North End. Her death was ruled a homicide. The New Hampshire Cold Case Unit and the Manchester Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her murder and are seeking new information that may lead to a resolution.
As part of this renewed push for information, investigators are publicly releasing for the first time the last known footage of Lynne Brennan.
The video shows Ms. Brennan at Bunny's Superette on Webster Street in Manchester at approximately 3:29 p.m. on October 4, 2010. At that time, she was wearing a white long-sleeved sweater, black stretch pants, light-colored shoes, and carrying a large black purse. While Ms. Brennan was discovered on October 11, investigators believe she was killed sometime before Sunday, October 10, 2010.
For Brennan's family, the last 15 years have been filled with grief and unanswered questions. In a statement, they describe Lynne as "a generous person who believed in putting the needs of others, especially her children, before her own. She had an infectious enthusiasm for life and a passion for music and art that inspired those around her. We miss her every day."
Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen or had contact with Lynne Brennan between October 4 and October 11, 2010, or who has any information regarding her homicide, to come forward.
"It has been 15 years since Lynne was murdered. Not knowing who did this to my sister weighs heavily on our whole family. We need answers, and we need peace," said Lisa Post, Lynne's sister.
