Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation statement on U.S. beef industry:
"As American farmers face an economic storm like none other, we urge caution and consideration of potential unintended consequences that would disrupt what is an already recovering cattle market. While we understand the pressures of prices in the grocery stores, importing more beef from other countries will only make the American consumer more reliant on a foreign food supply and negatively impact our cattle herd here in the U.S.," said Tennessee Farm Bureau President Eric Mayberry. "We thank USDA for their extensive plan to increase long-term domestic production of beef and our cattle farmers stand ready to meet the increasing demand for high-quality American beef. In addition to that plan, we urge the administration to consider these factors and continue supporting our farmers when making critical decisions that will impact their farms and families."
