Public Meeting Scheduled to Review Ethan Master Transportation Plan Preliminary Recommendations

ETHAN, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the town of Ethan, will hold a public meeting open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (CT) on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at the Town Hall located at 218 W. Main St. in Ethan. The public meeting is designed to discuss and receive public input regarding the preliminary recommendations for the Master Transportation Plan being developed for the town of Ethan. The study area includes all roads, sidewalks, and other transportation-related infrastructure.

The public meeting open house will be informal, allowing for one-on-one discussions with the study team. A short presentation will be given at the beginning of the meeting.

For those who cannot attend the open house or desire additional information on the overall study, the prerecorded presentation and open house displays will also be available on the study website at https://dot.sd.gov/ethan-mtp beginning on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. The website provides additional information on the study scope and schedule. The meeting presentation will also be streamed through a link on the study website. Written comments can be submitted at the public meeting, on the study website, or via email to the project manager. Written comments will be accepted through Monday, Aug. 17, 2026. The study team encourages input from area commuters, concerned citizens, and adjacent landowners and business owners to help refine and finalize recommendations.

Individuals needing assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should contact the SDDOT ADA Coordinator (605-773-3540) two business days prior to the meeting in order to ensure accommodations are available. For any in-person meeting, notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that the meeting is being held in a physically accessible location.
