On January 18, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Princess Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed.
Central District General Patrol officers attended and located a 42-year-old male victim suffering from a serious upper-body injury. Officers provided emergency medical care to the victim until ambulance arrived. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. A male suspect, still on scene was immediately taken into custody without incident.
Through their investigation, officers learned that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal argument which escalated to a physical assault. Officers learned that during the assault, the suspect produced a sharp edged weapon and stabbed the victim in the upper body.
The suspect and the victim were not previously known to one another.
A 33-year-old male from Winnipeg, is facing a charge of Assault with a Weapon.
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
