Sand, sandbags available in case of weekend flooding
Southwest Colorado and the Four Corners region are expected to receive significant rainfall this coming weekend, October 10-12.
In preparation for potential flooding, La Plata County Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with Durango Fire Protection District, Upper Pine Fire Protection District, and Los Pinos Fire Protection District, is offering free sandbags.
The free sand and sandbags are available to fill at the La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Center, on the north side of the arena, 2500 Main Avenue, Durango. Additionally, sand and sandbags are available at Upper Pine Fire Protection District Station 1 at 75 South Clover Drive in Bayfield.
