HARRISBURG - Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon), Republican chair of the House Human Services Committee, is inviting Pennsylvania residents to attend a committee hearing on House Bill 1939.
The hearing takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. The hearing will take place in Room G-50 Irvis Office Building, State Capitol Harrisburg.
House Bill 1939 amends the Human Services Code, Act 21 of 1967, to change the fee schedule rates for home and community-based services provided through the intellectual disability and autism programs administered by the Office of Developmental Programs within the Department of Human Services (DHS). Any changes to the fee schedule rates are subject to federal approval.
"We must ensure individuals with disabilities have timely access to high-quality services delivered by qualified, dedicated professionals," Heffley said. "We must also ensure the providers can sustain their operations while maintaining sufficient time and resources to focus on the individuals that they serve."
Expected testifiers include Kristin Ahrens, deputy secretary, Office of Developmental Programs, Department of Human Services; Patrick DeMico, executive director, The Provider Alliance; Nick Kratz, government relations manager, Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources; Tena Ezekiel, team lead east, Invision Human Services; and Rose Baumann, parent.
The hearing will also be streamed on Heffley's website and on his Facebook page.
