Rep. Karen Lupton, We Love Buford Highway Launch ‘Lupton Lifts Community’ to Support Families Facing Unexpected Hardship

ATLANTA - State Representative Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee), in partnership with We Love Buford Highway (WLBH), today announces the launch of "Lupton Lifts Community," a community initiative aimed at helping families across the Buford Highway corridor who are experiencing sudden financial hardship. The campaign seeks to support the We Love Buford Highway Emergency Community Stabilization Fund, which provides short-term assistance to families facing certain needs such as groceries, transportation, temporary rent assistance, utility payments, childcare and other expenses.

"One of the greatest privileges of serving this community is seeing neighbors continually step forward to help neighbors," said Rep. Lupton. "Lupton Lifts Community is an invitation for all of us to be part of that spirit of compassion. A relatively small act of generosity can mean groceries on the table, transportation to work or stability for a family facing an unexpected crisis. Together, we can remind our neighbors that they are not alone."

Rep. Lupton emphasizes that the We Love Buford Highway Emergency Community Stabilization Fund was created in response to a growing number of families experiencing unexpected crises that impacted their immediate stability. Whether caused by the sudden loss of household income, an unforeseen family emergency or another hardship, Rep. Lupton highlights that the fund is designed to provide support while families work toward longer-term solutions.

"Every week, we meet families whose lives can change overnight," said Lily Pabian, Executive Director of WLBH. "Sometimes the difference between stability and crisis is not thousands of dollars; it may simply be enough to cover groceries, transportation or part of a month's rent while a family regains its footing. Lupton Lifts Community is rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, hope and the reassurance that their community will stand beside them during life's most difficult moments."

Rep. Lupton encourages anyone interested in learning more about the organization to contact her at [email protected].

Representative Karen Lupton represents the citizens of District 83, which includes a portion of DeKalb County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Education, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications and Human Relations & Aging committees.
