The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 21 in Killingly and Putnam. This project is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, May 6 and be completed on Friday, June 5, 2026. Project No. DOT01720558CN "E" consists of milling and resurfacing a 3.75-mile segment of Route 21 from Route 12 (Putnam Pike) in Killingly to US 44 in Putnam. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Grading Inc. on Wednesday, May 6 to Thursday, May 14, 2026. The resurfacing segment of this project by All States Construction Inc. is anticipated to begin on Monday, May 18 to Friday, June 5, 2026.
This project is included in CTDOT's 2026 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 21 from Route 12 (Putnam Pike) in Killingly to
US 44 in Putnam. Traffic control personnel, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
