Armenia/Türkiye: Statement by the Spokesperson on the talks about the restoration of rail connection between the two countries

The EU welcomes today's meeting of the Armenia-Türkiye bilateral working group in Kars to advance the restoration of rail connections between the two countries.

The sustained momentum in the Armenia-Türkiye normalisation process reflects the broader positive dynamics taking hold in the region - essential for lasting peace and stability. The EU encourages the full normalisation between both countries.

Once operational, the Kars-Gyumri rail link will strengthen regional connectivity and deliver concrete gains for all the populations in the South Caucasus.

The EU is committed to advancing connectivity in the South Caucasus in line with our Cross Regional Connectivity Agenda, the Global Gateway strategy and the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, with Armenia and Türkiye both playing key roles.
