£1.5 million allocated to support charities from Jersey Reclaim Fund

08 April 2026

The Government has announced the second annual allocation of £1.5 million from the Jersey Reclaim Fund, continuing the Government's commitment to provide long term, stable support for local charitable and voluntary organisations.

The funding forms part of a three year package of at least £4.5 million for 2025-2027, announced by Ministers in October 2024, designed to help charities plan ahead at a time of increasing demand, rising costs and financial uncertainty across the sector.

Established in 2017, the Jersey Reclaim Fund is administered by the Government of Jersey and is made up of balances from dormant bank accounts in Jersey where contact has been lost with the customer for more than 15 years.

As in previous years, the funding will be distributed by the Jersey Community Foundation, ensuring grants are directed to organisations delivering meaningful impact across the Island.

The Minister for External Relations, Deputy Ian Gorst, who has responsibility for financial services, said: "Our charitable and voluntary organisations are facing an exceptionally difficult time, with growing demand for their services and increasing financial pressures. Yet their contribution to Island life has never been more important.

"I want to express my gratitude to Jersey's financial institutions for their continued collaboration with the Fund, and to the Jersey Community Foundation for their vital work in ensuring these grants reach the organisations and Islanders who need them most."

Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham said: "Charitable and voluntary organisations play a vital role in supporting Islanders, often working with the most vulnerable people. This continued funding recognises both the pressures facing the sector and its importance to our community."

Anna Terry, CEO of the Jersey Community Foundation, said: "We're delighted to be working in partnership with the Government of Jersey once again to distribute £1.5 million from the Jersey Reclaim Fund this year. In 2025, we awarded over £1.8 million from dormant funds to support charities and community organisations across the Island, and we've seen first-hand the difference this funding can make.

"We would encourage organisations to get in touch with us early to discuss their ideas ahead of the application deadline, as we look forward to continuing to support the vital work being delivered across Jersey."

The next closing date for applications is 17 May. For further information on how to apply, please see the website: Jersey Community Fund | Jersey Community Foundation. There will be a further funding round in October.
