Fear and Fiction Collide at Anaheim’s First ‘Spinal Dread’ Festival

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Anaheim Public Library will welcome horror fans to its inaugural Spinal Dread Horror Literature and Culture Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central Library, 500 W. Broadway.

The free, one-day festival will feature an array of horror-themed presentations, vendors, artists, and merchandise alongside a beer garden and food offerings.

Headlining the event is award-winning author Tananarive Due, celebrated for her groundbreaking work in horror, speculative fiction, and Black literature. Due will discuss her craft in conversation with Anaheim Poet Laureate Camille Hernandez.

"We're excited to bring a unique literary and cultural experience to Anaheim," said Alessandra Gonzalez, Communications Manager. "Spinal Dread will give horror enthusiasts and newcomers alike a chance to connect over their shared love for the genre while discovering new voices, art, and community."

Attendees can explore horror-inspired books, films, and local artistry, meet creators, and enjoy themed food and drinks in a lively outdoor setting.
