State Police Investigate Stabbing Incident in the village of Vala...

On December 28, 2024, at approximately 7:06 p.m., State Police patrols responded to 3033 Main St, in the village of Valatie for a reported stabbing. Troopers, along with Deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, located the victim, 49-year-old Chris Dugan with two minor stab wounds.

On December 29, 2024, Robert P. Krein, age 23 was arrested for Assault 2nd degree, a class "D" felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, a class "A" misdemeanor. He is scheduled to appear back in court on January 28, 2025, at 5 PM

Dugan was transported to Albany Med for evaluation. Krein was arraigned in the Town of Kinderhook and released into the custody of probation. Dugan is expected to be released from the hospital today.
