FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In honor of National Water Safety Month in May, the City of Irvine is hosting a family-friendly event Saturday, May 9, 5:30 p.m. at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. Splash into Safety combines an evening of fun in the pool with practical tips and helpful resources designed to keep children safe in and around the water.
Guests can enjoy open swim, inflatable obstacle courses, and diving board activities, followed by a poolside screening of the family-friendly film, The Parent Trap (PG). Families are also encouraged to visit the water safety booth to learn important tips - from supervision basics to safe swim habits that can help prevent accidents before they happen.
Families can bring floaties to the event and exchange them for a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket through the City's Floatie Exchange program, an initiative that supports ongoing efforts to ensure a water-safe summer. Life jackets are available for children ages 6 and younger while supplies last.
Lifeguards will be on duty at the event, and an adult must accompany children 6 and younger one-on-one in the water. Admission is $2.50 per child and $5 per adult. Payment is accepted upon arrival at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. Learn more at cityofirvine.org/aquaticsevents.
William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center is located at 4601 Walnut Ave. For more information, call 949-724-6717 or visit cityofirvine.org/aquatics.
