Patagonia was recently and incorrectly listed among supporters of the Senate's bipartisan permitting package known as the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA), a bill that weakens bedrock environmental laws and makes it harder for Tribal Nations and the public to challenge harmful extractive projects. The bill includes permitting provisions that could expand drilling, mining, logging and data-center development on public lands, even when these projects threaten wildlife, clean water and communities.
Patagonia supports permitting reform that helps build renewable energy faster. But not at the expense of public lands, Tribal sovereignty or community protections.
