The Port of San Diego recently launched a new online ship schedule, PortControl, allowing the public to view which ships are coming and going from the Port's cargo and cruise terminals.
The Port operates two marine cargo terminals and two cruise terminals year-round with vessels coming and going regularly. The dynamic dashboards in PortControl allow the public to view when a cargo vessel is expected to arrive and depart, and shows which vessels are currently in port. Similarly, the public can also view the upcoming cruise ship schedule and see what ships are arriving from a specific cruise line.
Why it Matters
The Port's PortControl tool helps promote safety, transparency, and overall awareness of the daily maritime activity occurring at the Port of San Diego. While the Port and its tenants use PortControl to support efficient and modern maritime operations, the public can also use the online schedule to better understand what ships they are seeing in San Diego Bay and any activity at the Port's terminals. This increased visibility also plays a vital role in preventing conflicts with local marine events.
The Port of San Diego is the fourth largest port in California, and this platform allows the public to learn more about how the San Diego region plays an important role in tourism, global trade, and the movement of goods and people around the world.
PortControl is a dynamic dashboard that is updated in real time. Vessel schedules are not exact, and all arrival or departure times listed are subject to change.
