Kennedy express lanes overnight closure Friday

CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that fiber optics line work will require an overnight full closure of the Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90/94) reversible express lanes. The closure will go into effect, weather permitting, 10 p.m. Friday, May 29, to 10 a.m. Saturday.

The closure is necessary to make final connections to communications lines that were replaced in March that relays traffic information and other data along the expressway system.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
