Yaw, Pickett, Owlett Announce Fire, EMS Grants for Bradford County

HARRISBURG - Thirty-two fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Bradford County were collectively awarded more than $418,000 in funding support through the 2025-26 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and Reps. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) announced today.

"The job of a volunteer firefighter or an emergency medical technician entails more than putting out fires, responding to vehicle crashes or performing CPR or first aid," Pickett said. "Much of their responsibilities are focusing on raising much-needed funds so they can continue to keep the lights on, purchase new equipment or take additional training. That's why these grants are so popular and so beneficial to our communities. I thank each and every fire and ambulance company member for all he or she does to keep us safe."

"Communities across our region are fortunate to have highly skilled and dedicated volunteers who step up to protect their neighbors," Yaw said. "These investments will help ease the day-to-day strain on these organizations and ensure they have the tools and resources they need."

"Local fire and EMS teams put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and that responsibility has grown more difficult as costs rise," Owlett said. "These annual grants are an important way the state can help to support these essential first responders."

• Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department - $12,220.36.
• Greater Valley EMS (fire) - $12,426.48.
• Greater Valley EMS (EMS) - $15,000.
• O.P.S. EMS - $15,000.
• Herrick Township Volunteer Fire Company - $12,014.25.
• Howard Elmer Hose Company No. 4 (Sayre) - $12,426.48.
• Innes Hose Company - $13,457.05.
• E. Wheelock Hose Company No. 5 (Sayre) - $12,426.48.
• LeRaysville Pike Volunteer Fire Department - $12,220.36.
• Litchfield Township Volunteer Fire Company - $12,220.36.
• Monroe Hose Company - $13,044.82.
• New Albany Volunteer Fire Department - $13,250.94.
• North Towanda Fire and Rescue Volunteers - $13,250.94.
• Oscoluwa Engine and Hose Company Inc. - $12,838.71.

The grants are awarded through an ongoing program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire safety, or reduction of existing debt. In order to receive funding, recipients must file a grant agreement with OSFC.
