WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) celebrated the delivery of a new 100-foot aerial ladder truck to the Williamston Fire Department, made possible in part by $1 million in community project funding he secured for the Town of Williamston. Congressman Davis secured the project for federal funding to help replace the department's aging 1999 Pierce 75-foot ladder truck after nearly 30 years of service, and voted to approve it as part of H.R. 5371, Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026 (Public Law 119-37).
The $1 million investment, delivered through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities program, helped fund the new custom-built 2026 E-ONE HR 100-foot tandem aerial ladder truck, designated Ladder 26. The Town of Williamston covered the remaining $500,000 for the apparatus. Ladder 26 expands the department's vertical reach by 25 feet and strengthens its firefighting and emergency response capabilities.
"Behind the wheel of Williamston's new ladder truck are firefighters who train, prepare, and put themselves in harm's way to protect their neighbors," said Congressman Don Davis. "I am proud to have voted and secured $1 million to help deliver this new apparatus, and grateful to the firefighters who answer the call when our community needs them most."
Congressman Don Davis secured nearly $54 million in Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding for eastern North Carolina through federal appropriations legislation he supported. The funding was included in the Senate amendment to H.R. 7148, Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026; H.R. 6938, Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026; and H.R. 5371, Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026.
