Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong published a signed article in Uganda's two largest English-language newspapers, titled the 80th Anniversary of Victory: Remembering the World Anti-Fascist War and Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression for a Peaceful Future.

In the article, Ambassador Zhang highlighted China's historic contribution to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. Throughout 14 years of relentless struggle, China sustained tremendous sacrifice, with over 35 million lives lost, yet stood firm as a great wall of resilience, secured the great victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and made a decisive contribution to the global triumph over fascism. Eighty years later, China remains a staunch defender of the post-war international order, putting forward the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind as a clear response to the question of "what kind of world to build and how to build it."

Ambassador Zhang further stressed that Taiwan's return to China was an important outcome of World War II and an integral part of the post-war international order. In 1945, Japan surrendered and accepted the terms of the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation in the Instrument of Surrender, after which China resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Taiwan on October 25, 1945. To date, 183 countries have established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of the One-China principle. Ambassador Zhang emphasized that China's complete reunification is an unstoppable historical trend and a cornerstone of global peace and stability.
