CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Governor Patrick Morrisey issued the following statement on the passage of the Rural Health Transformation Program supplemental:
"I want to thank the Legislature for passing the Rural Health supplemental, which allows us to move forward with important steps to strengthen health care access in our rural communities. Too many families across our state face long drives or limited options when it comes to basic medical care. This measure gives us the flexibility to begin addressing those challenges and improving the availability of services where they are needed most.
"Access to quality health care is essential for building strong communities and a strong economy. By advancing this supplemental, we can begin putting resources to work that will help support rural providers, expand access to care, and ensure more families receive the medical services they deserve. I look forward to working with our partners to implement these improvements and deliver meaningful results for the people of our state.
"West Virginia faces real challenges when it comes to health and workforce participation. Too many of our citizens are sidelined from work because of untreated illness or lack of access to care. With the initiatives made possible through President Trump's Rural Healthcare Transformation Program, we have an opportunity to address those challenges head-on and build a health care system that meets the unique needs of our state while helping more West Virginians return to healthy, productive lives."
