SGMC Health Recognizes Suttles with DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing

SGMC Health honored Lisa Suttles, RN at SGMC Health Villa, as the latest recipient of the DAISY Award. This international recognition celebrates nurses who exemplify compassionate care, clinical excellence, and an unwavering commitment to their patients and colleagues.

Suttles was nominated by a grateful family member who shared how her care went far beyond routine nursing responsibilities at the Villa, a 62-bed skilled nursing facility in Lakeland. From regularly checking on the patient even when she wasn't assigned to that hallway, to playing gospel music to soothe and uplift her, Suttles demonstrated a deep understanding of her patient's emotional and spiritual needs. Her consistent expressions of love and tenderness brought comfort and dignity to the patient's final days, leaving a lasting impact on the family.

"Lisa embodies the true spirit of nursing," the nominator wrote. "Her compassion, dedication, and heartfelt care make her incredibly deserving of the DAISY Award."

DAISY Awards are presented monthly in front of the nurse's colleagues, physicians, patients, and visitors. Each honoree receives a certificate of recognition, a hand-carved sculpture titled A Healer's Touch from the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe, and a floral arrangement of daisies, generously donated by The Flower Gallery, SGMC Health's local DAISY Award sponsor.

SGMC Health offers a variety of recognition programs to honor employees who embody its tagline of Remarkable People, Extraordinary Care, Human Kindness. To learn more about these awards and other recognition programs, visit sgmc.org/recognition.
