York, PA - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity today announced that nearly $10,000 worth of unclaimed property was found for fans of the York Revolution at the game against the Lexington Legends in York on August 8.
"Dozens of fans stopped by Treasury's booth and found unclaimed property - money they didn't even realize was missing!. I want to thank the York Revolution organization for hosting us and helping get money back into the hands of their tremendous fans."
"The York Revolution was proud to partner with Treasurer Garrity and her team to connect our fans with unclaimed property they may not have known was theirs. Seeing nearly $10,000 returned to individuals during one night at the ballpark was incredible - it shows the real impact this program can have in our community."
Fans who attended the game were assisted by Treasury's unclaimed property staff as they searched for unclaimed property.
Unclaimed property can include things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance policies, contents of forgotten safe deposit boxes and more. State law requires businesses to report unclaimed property to Treasury after three years of dormancy.
Treasury is working to return more than $5 billion in unclaimed property, including nearly $59 million owed to York County residents. More than one in ten Pennsylvanians are owed unclaimed property, and the average claim is worth more than $1,000.
