Morrison and Heinrich combine for nine RBIs during Texans' run-rule victory in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas - Tarleton State Baseball (21-29, 9-10 WAC) took down the Abilene Christian Wildcats (27-19, 11-8 WAC) during the series opener on Friday night, achieving an 11-0 run-rule win in just seven innings.

The Texans put up 10 hits, doubling the Wildcats' total of five. Each teams' bullpen had five strikeouts apiece. The Purple and White scored nine of their 11 runs via home run.

After a scoreless first inning that included two strikeouts from junior pitcher , the Texans put up a six spot in the top of the second frame, taking a commanding lead early in the ballgame. registered a lead-off single and successfully stole second and third base, putting himself in fantastic scoring position. After walked on a 4-0 count, drove in the first run of the evening with an RBI groundout that scored McCloud.

The Texans kept the pressure on the Wildcats with a single from that scored Perez, extending the lead to two runs. drew a walk with two outs, leaving with a bases-loaded opportunity. Morrison now has seven home runs on the season which is more than he's had in his past three years combined. The hometown kid now has five appearances with three or more RBIs in 2025.

Panneton continued to shine on the mound, holding the Wildcats scoreless until the sixth inning when he was relieved by . The former WAC Pitcher of the Week finished his evening with a total of 5.1 innings of work, allowing four hits and no earned runs along with five strikeouts.

Brewster and Shirey knocked back-to-back singles for the Texans to start off the sixth stanza. With one out on the board, blasted a no-doubter to right field for a three-run home run that made the ballgame 9-0. This marked the freshman's fourth home run of the year and his first since hitting three straight homers in three games ranging from April 12-15.

Heinrich wasn't done yet though. The first-year standout tacked on another home run in the seventh inning to help the Purple and White reach run-rule territory. This was a two-run shot to center field that scored himself and Brewster, giving Heinrich his fifth RBI of the contest. Following Friday's game, Heinrich ranks second on the squad with a .346 batting average and also leads the Texans with 26 extra-base hits.

Lucas put down three straight batters to complete the shutout and propel the Texans to an 11-0 victory. Friday evening marked Tarleton State's second shutout of the season as well as their second under coaches and . Both shutouts have contained performances from Panneton and Lucas.
