Pickett, Yaw Announce More Than $5.8 Million Investment for New Albany Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant

July 15, 2026

BRADFORD - Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced $5.8 million in state funding has been awarded to New Albany Borough through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for construction of a new wastewater treatment plant.

The project will also include the installation of new gravity sewer lines to the plant and manhole rehabilitation. The new plant will include an influent pump station, equalization tanks, extended aeration treatment, headworks screening and clarification equipment and an ultraviolet disinfection system.

"New Albany Borough has been waiting to construct a new wastewater treatment plant for quite some time now. This is the funding they needed to make it possible," Pickett said. "I am pleased Sen. Yaw and I were able to help the borough in this way to ensure safe, reliable drinking water always reaches those in New Albany."

In addition to the new wastewater treatment plant, a new building will also be constructed to house blowers and electrical components and to provide space for storage, on-site lab testing and a meeting room. More buildings will be constructed to house headworks screening equipment and ultraviolet disinfection equipment. A generator will be installed to provide backup power to the influent pump station and to ensure treatment during power outages.

"Reliable wastewater infrastructure is essential to protecting public health, supporting future growth and improving quality of life for residents," said Yaw. "This investment will help ensure Bradford County has the modern infrastructure needed to serve the community for years to come. I was pleased to join Rep. Pickett in supporting this important project."

PENNVEST, established in 1988, funds the design and construction of drinking water, wastewater and storm water projects across Pennsylvania.
