No Funding Agreement as Federal Government Shutdown Looms

No action was taken on government funding proposals Monday and funding is still scheduled to expire after 11:59 p.m. Eastern Tuesday. The House advanced a continuing resolution prior to last week's recess, and the Senate is expected to take another vote on that measure Tuesday that is expected to fall short of the 60 votes needed to pass (it also failed a Senate vote before recess).

The House does not have any votes currently scheduled this week, but reports are they are prepared to return to DC to vote if needed. There was no agreement reached following a meeting with President Donald Trump and Congressional leaders of both parties Monday afternoon.

In the event that there is a shutdown, the U.S. Office of Office Personnel Management just released guidance, which includes payroll implications: Instructions for Agencies Affected by a Possible Lapse in Appropriations Starting on October 1, 2025
