Tavern Games Night: The Alexandria Canal and Commerce

Friday, September 26

Explore Alexandria's canal history with a lively game night! Doors open at 7 p.m., followed by a brief presentation around 7:30 p.m., then test your knowledge in pub trivia on the Alexandria Canal and local commerce. Tavern games and a cash bar will be available throughout. Tickets are $10.
Learn how the Alexandria Canal, operational from 1843 to 1886, shaped commerce and daily life in 19th-century Alexandria-plus enjoy a fun evening with fellow history enthusiasts.
Specialty Tour: Outlandish Apothecary
Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum, 105-107 S. Fairfax St.

Step inside this historic apothecary and discover the herbal medicines featured in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series-from cascara to dauco seeds. This tour also highlights the role of apothecaries and women in medicine in the 18th century. Tickets are $15, or $12 for Historic Alexandria members. Recommended for adults 18+.
