This afternoon, Detectives booked Jordan T. Christ, 30, into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a charge of Assault in the Second Degree.
The investigation revealed that the assault was a punch to the victim's head and did not involve a weapon. Investigators have no reason to believe that the suspect and the victim knew each other.
The victim remains in the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Collaboration with TriMet was critical to the swift arrest in this case. Christ was captured within an hour of the assault thanks TriMet security staff, who quickly obtained a detailed description of the suspect and distributed it to internal staff and law enforcement. It was an alert TriMet supervisor who spotted the suspect about a block south of the assault at Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Pacific Street. The supervisor immediately notified officers, who quickly detained Christ. PPB expresses sincere appreciation for the efforts of TriMet, the Transit Police Unit, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, and the Multnomah County District Attorney's office.
