In celebration of Muslim Heritage Month in October, the Office of Student Engagement and Connection (OSEC) and the Muslim Students Association (MSA) have organized a variety of events throughout the month to promote education, cultural awareness and community engagement.
Muslim Heritage Month celebrates the history, culture and contribution of Muslims in society in fields such as science, education and medicine. Through October, the MSA is proud to be hosting events that honor these contributions, including engaging discussions, cultural experiences and charity-focused initiatives.
Muslim Heritage Month kicks off with a bonfire on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Flatlands.
Festivities begin with a bonfire at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, in the Flatlands.
Other campus events and activities planned for Muslim Heritage Month include:
• Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. - Culture Night at the Al-Madinah Community Center. Play games, eat food and experience a diversity of cultures and nationalities found across the Muslim world and the community beyond UToledo campus.
• Monday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. - Interfaith Panel in the John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation Room 1200 A/B. Bringing together religious scholars and experts from multiple faiths, the panel will allow guests to ask them about their values and beliefs to help create awareness about their faiths.
