Presentations

Maximilian Viatori, SOA/ANT, gave an invited talk at Colorado College titled "Towards or Beyond 'Blue Justice' for Peru's Artisanal Fisheries?"

Lindsay Marshall, HIS, facilitated the 8th annual (virtual) conference of the Equine History Collective and gave a presentation titled "Looking Between the Ears in the Archive: Centering Horses in Research."

Jan Dahl, BSC, presented the following:

• "A previously unrecognized detoxification system protects uropathogenic Escherichia coli from reactive chlorine species" at the Gordon Research Conference on Microbial Stress Response in Mount Holyoke, NH; at the Junior Scientist Microbiology Meeting of Marseille (JSM3) in Marseille, France, as the keynote speaker; and at the University of Crete, Department of Biology in Heraklion, Greece.
• "Characterizing the role of polyphosphate in Gram-negative bacteria" at the VAAM Annual Conference in Berlin, Germany.

Publications

Justin Vickers, WKCFA:

• Contributed two chapters and co-edited Childhood and the Operatic Imaginary since 1900;
• Wrote the introduction and co-edited the memoir of the first Aldeburgh Festival manager alongside 55 edited letters in Elizabeth Sweeting: The Best and Happiest Days;
• Contributed two chapters and co-edited Elizabeth Maconchy in Context.

Livia K. Stone, ANT, authored a book titled Without Masters: Autogestión, Anarchist Ethics, and Mexico City Punk.

Yaman Erzurumlu, FIL, published an article titled "Dynamic modelling of shocks to credit spread risk in banking book: evidence from European sovereign markets" in North American Journal of Economics and Finance.

Pruthikrai Mahatanankoon, IT, co-authored an article titled "Student Engagement in IT Programs: What NSSE Captures and What It Misses" in Information Systems Education Journal, September 2026.

Justin Stanek, KNR, co-authored an article titled "The Correlation Between Ankle Proprioception and Lower Extremity Muscle Reactions in Response to Simulated Ankle Sprains" in Clinical Practice in Athletic Training, September 2026.

Jessie Krienert and Jeffrey Walsh, CJS, co-authored an article titled "Decoding the Decline: Examining Student Evaluation of Teaching Participation in Higher Education" in Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, August 2026.

• Jeffrey Walsh also separately co-authored an article titled "Innocence Interrupted: A 25-Year Study of Reported Filicide Incidents in the United States, 1999 to 2023" in Journal of Interpersonal Violence.

Chris Merrill, TEC, co-authored an article titled "Column Design: Supporting the Technology and Engineering Discipline with Structural Engineering" in Technology and Engineering Educator in September 2026.

Sundeep Inti, IT, o-authored an article titled "Multi-criteria optimization of closed-loop hydronic pavement systems in urban heat island mitigation: Balancing performance and cost" in Urban Climate, August 2026.

Oscar Nunez Enriquez and Emily Jones, KNR, coauthored an article titled "The impact of a semester-long practicum on Physical Education preservice teachers' self- efficacy of teaching children with autism" in European Journal of Adapted Physical Activity, August 2026.

• Oscar Nunez Enriquez also separately coauthored an article titled "Exploring Professional Capital in Physical Education" in Quest, August 2026.

Mangolika Bhattacharya, IT, authored an article titled "Digital Twins for Digital Health: LLM-Enhanced Vulnerability Insight and DDoS Protection for Electronic Health Records" in IEEE, August 2026.

Fernanda G. Duque, BSC, coauthored "High frequency vocalizations and hearing in hummingbirds: what we know and opportunities for the future" in Journal of Experimental Biology.

Stewart Winger and Megan VanGorder, HIS, published a chapter titled ""Your Friend as Ever, A. Lincoln" and "Those Who Claimed His Friendship in "Blackwell's Companion to Abraham Lincoln.

• Stewart Winger also separately published two chapters titled, "Scholarship of Lincoln's Political Economy Part One: The Mysterious Disappearance of America's Revolutionary Republican Tradition" and "Scholarship of Lincoln's Political Economy Part Two: The Myth of a Stateless American Past" in Blackwell's Companion to Abraham Lincoln.
• Megan VanGorder also separately published a book review of "Jones, Jonathan S. Opium Slavery: Civil War Veterans and America's First Opioid Crisis" in H-CivWar, H-Net Reviews, August 2026.

Janice Jayes, HIS, published the following:

• "The Sanctuary Movement: Still a Model for Shaping Policy from the Grassroots Up" in Public i Contact; and
• An op-ed in the Champaign News Gazette on the loss of global perspectives and autonomy in higher education under Trump.

Jan Dahl, Kevin Edwards, and Kyle Floyd, BSC, coauthored:

• "The Synergy between a Silver-Containing Antimicrobial and aminoglycosides is based on severe macromolecular damage" in Molecular Microbiology; and
• "The Antimicrobial Implications of Reactive Oxygen Species Generation" in Infection and Immunity.
