Trixie Mattel & Bonnie McKee Are Feeling “Hella Good” On Collab Cover of No Doubt Classic

DJ Trixie Mattel is getting ready to take over festival season this year, and today she is getting fans hyped for what's to come from her live set with a spacey, EDM reimagining of No Doubt's ubiquitous new wave smash hit "Hella Good", featuring none other than pop maven Bonnie McKee on vocals.

"Bonnie McKee is my red-headed Barbie doll and her vocals add so much gloss to this," said Trixie about the collab. "This song is so iconic and I'm happy to have made it gayer."

The drag legend has become a dance music powerhouse over the past few years thanks to her critically acclaimed Solid Pink Disco immersive DJ tour, and other pop reimaginings like her ingenious cover of RuPaul's "Supermodel" featuring VINCINT .

Trixie recently announced a brand new conceptual live dance party spectacular, Super Disco, that she plans to bring all over the country this festival season including stops at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Lightning In a Bottle & Outside Lands, Osheaga & Capitol Hill Block Party.

A full sci-fi epic, Trixie's Super Disco DJ performances will be the highlight of festival season, featuring her largest live production and catalog of music Trixie has produced to date. "New tracks, remixes, bootlegs… While I still want to provide that sense of escapism, I'm spinning a narrative where love and humanity prevail over greed and automation. It's higher stakes than anything I've done on the festival circuit before," she shared.

"I've been consuming a lot of news, Star Trek, The Jetsons, reread Watchmen, and old sci-fi, so I knew I wanted a space-and-aliens theme. Musically, I'm leaning into what I love most: retro disco, funk, and funky house," added Trixie. "Visually, it contrasts the 'worst parts of America'-personified by a male villain obsessed with the military, robotics, and greed-against Trixie, who hails from a pink jungle planet that values love and connection."
